Last Monday, our dearest Third Chancellor of the University of the Philippines in Mindanao, Dr. Gilda Carballo Rivero, has been formally installed. Read more in the UP Mindanao Website . The financial remuneration received by the faculty and staff in UP is below that of the academic working at other top institutions in the country. The question of why some people choose to remain in UP despite the financial challenge is a mystery of heroism.
