I'm in the Honor Roll!

Image
Whew! What a semester it has been here in UPMin! As the Office of the University Registrar had posted 2 weeks ago, I was eager to look on the people who have achieved such recognition while pursuing their studies. I traversed through the Chancellor's List, (*congratulations to Ate Hazel to make it to the Chancellor's List!), the Dean's List, and the Honor Roll list... then unexpectedly... MY NAME IS IN THE LIST! The list says: PORIO KENNETH BERNEJAY HERMOSILLA      1.80000 Finally, of all the effort I exerted on the 1st Semester 09-10, it all had been paid off. By passing and excelling in CMSC57, AH1, AH4, SSP5, JAP10 (including PE 2 SD, although it's not part of the grade computation), I got this very good GWA. Yes, clearly, this is GOD's grace! I'm eager to improve more! Cheers for another good grades ahead. KENNETH

My FIRST 1.0!

Image
I'm just so happy today that I received my very first 1.0 grade in my study in UP Mindanao! I got my 1.0 in AH4/HUM1 (Adventures in Fiction, Poetry and Drama), under the supervision of Prof. Jhoanna Lynn Cruz. In this course, my mind was tickled with the many literature works that Prof. Cruz has shared to us - short stories, novel excerpts, poems, plays, even a 1950s movie adaptation of a Japanese classic! We ended with a play production that went very successfully. So, I'm so blessed to have a 1.0; it's God's grace that worked. More to come! KENNETH

ASL Beta is Upcoming!

Image
Starting the 2nd half of April, A Stellar Life will undergo its 3.0 Alpha BUILDING/MAINTENANCE stage , going under massive changes to its layout and widgets. So expect missing layouts, links and graphics . But expect a new, improved experience here in ASL. When this stage is complete, ASL 3.0 will change its status to BETA (3.0.b / 2.11.0). I apologize for the incoming inconvenience, for these changes will be made to serve the blogosphere better. Cheers! KENNETH

What's New for ASL

Image
Hi guys! As I am shifting into the newest version of ASL - ASL 3.0, let me show you my new logo I made through GIMP. Black looks beautiful, ika nga . So, I made my newest logo for ASL in Black and White, with the font DejaVu Sans Ultra-Light. Simple and discreet, yet bold and masculine in a sense. This logo is part of my project I call... Project CLEAR:   Christian Life Experiences Amplified and Redefined. As I am shifting to just a life blog to a LIFE blog (pun intended), I still keep ASL's motto of SHINE (Share Happy, Inspirational, and Noteworthy Experiences), but now I add CLEAR to it. That means, ASL's new motto is... SHINE CLEAR Share Happy, Inspirational and Noteworthy Experiences - Christian Life Experiences Amplified and Redefined. I am intending to have my blog's layout like those from pYzam.com and pimp-my-profile.com which uses alpha-blending in their layouts. I want a blog that is not very cluttered or uses complicated codings (I'm not yet good ...

ASL 3.0 Alpha

Image
Hi guys! It has been a long time since I posted. I have been busy doing my school works, my work duties, my ministry, my family time. God has put that in perfect order. I am happy that He has been with me guiding me through. My blog is about to be three years old and that's quite long already. Now, I am thinking of making a new change to ASL - to change its layout and organization. My blog's quite messy for such a time so I need to take action to this. I NEED TO CHANGE THE LAYOUT OF ASL . So I am announcing that ASL is in its alpha stage for its version 3.0. Well, I have to review my HTML and CSS skills just to make this blog a good one - clean, fresh, rich, streamlined. I'll just let the LORD help me in doing all these things. All in His Mighty Name. KENNETH

A Final Look of the Year 2008

Image
Dearest friends, Graphics & Myspace layouts The year of our LORD, Two Thousand and Eight, has passed by, and another year has been made history. This year was a year of hopes, failures, friendships, and a deeper relationship to the LORD. Here are all I have experienced in this year. I encountered and passed these subjects in the 2nd Semester while I'm in UP Mindanao: CMSC11, CMSC56, MATH26, SSP1, SSP3, MST2. My blog boosted up its traffic when I joined in Entrecard and other blogging support tools. I won 2nd Placer with a partner during the Computer Science Week's IT Quiz 2008. I earned a little money, in which I used it to buy a UP Centennial Shirt. :-) My blog recieved a few reviews, and made memes and tags for the first time. I joined in the CDSI Community Site on Ning. In the Second Year of my blog, I made extreme changes in it: made a domain, more widgets and services, and then made an identity in the blogosphere. Life became tougher during the summer va...

Ba't ang Sarap Tawagin Kang "Kuya"

Image
"Kuya" Ito ang itinatawag sa mga kapatid na lalaki na mas matanda sa atin. Ito rin ay madalas itinatawag sa mga ka-eskwelahan na mas mataas ang antas o baitang sa atin. Ito ay madalas rin itinatawag sa mga kaibigang hindi naman kaanu-ano, ngunit itinuring na nating kapatid. Why should I tell the Filipino address of "Kuya", and what does it mean to me? It is simply because I wanna express why I love those who call me this way so much. I'm my family's firstborn, the panganay . So it's normal for my younger siblings and even my parents to call me "Kuya" all the time. Nevertheless, I love them so much for they are my family and I believe that they have felt the care I wanted to show them ever since I was born. I do care for them because I'm the Kuya . Back in high school, I would always appreciate the talents and intellects of those not in my age level. In particular, I would always look up to those batches older than we are because the...

It's Time to Let Go and Let God

Image
Dear friends, I am so blessed to blog again and make myself free to express - with a little discernment for that matter. But I still want to go personal since this blog is entirely made out of personal experiences. :-) You Can Change Your Life You've probably already improved your life a great deal, and you're no stranger to change. You're able to make very difficult changes in your life. It's all about state of mind. And even if you have some trouble changing, you're smart enough to get support or take a different approach. So go ahead and dare to make things better. You know you can do it! Can You Change Your Life? I WANT DEFINITE AND ABSOLUTE CHANGES IN MY LIFE. But where should I start to assess? I am an Independent Thinker , but I still want to be truly FREE to think. I think that letting out those unreliable parts in my personality will really improve my life. Why, I think so weirdly that I may say myself that I'm a cross betw...

Convictions of the StellarBoy (Part 5)

Image
This is my final conviction for this posting series. Let's take a break and see a trailer of UPCAT - The Movie, a CinemaOne original movie. A story of one student who dreams to be in the University of the Philippines; i.e., by taking the University of the Philippines College Admission Test or the UPCAT. The catch phrase: " Ito and kwento ng sukatan, pasikatan, at shaded circles . " The scenario is based in UP Los Baños, but the situation applies in all campuses in the System. I'm proud I've passed the UPCAT and entered UP. :-) This time, I wanna confess everything I've done all this time: I turned back to God through many people. My life has been in "recovery mode" since I entered UP Min. I have gained friends who, in their way, praise the Lord for His wonderful Presence, who made ways to sing and dance to worship Him. Their voices grabbed my attention to turn back into Him. There I started to experience spiritual freedom. I began to read the Holy...

Introducing: A Stellar Life ME!

Image
What's just really new and exciting on A Stellar Life? A STELLAR LIFE NOW GOES MOBILE through A STELLAR LIFE Me! ASL is developing a new site that features all that's in the blog but one that's for Internet-capable mobile phones. ASL integrates its Feedburner RSS Feed to the mobile site through the Mofuse service and put it all into one site: http://astellarlife.mofuse.mobi/ You can visit a preview of the mobile site on your PC Internet browser by clicking into this link. Through your mobile phone browser, key-in this address, enter, and you're in to enjoy ASL wherever you go! ASL ME! is still in its starting stage so, it's encouraging to say that you can now visit my blog through this .mobi address rather than accessing it through my .co.nr or blogspot domains when you are through GPRS or 3G Mobile Internet. In this way, you can help improve ASL more and more! I hope my fellow bloggers will know about this innovation I've just discovered. I wanna tag the...

I am an Engineer!!

Image
This is a follow-up of my previous post . For a short time, I've been assessed into an INTP from an INTJ. (Update: To make this post short, I have to delete the whole article from www.personalitypage.com/INTP.html   I'll just get the definition from http://similarminds.com/jung/intp.html ) INTP loner, more interested in intellectual pursuits than relationships or family, wrestles with the meaninglessness of existence, likes esoteric things, disorganized, messy, likes science fiction, can be lonely, observer, private, can't describe feelings easily, detached, likes solitude, not revealing, unemotional, rule breaker, avoidant, familiar with the darkside, skeptical, acts without consulting others, does not think they are weird but others do, socially uncomfortable, abrupt, fantasy prone, does not like happy people, appreciates strangeness, frequently loses things, acts without planning, guarded, not punctual, more likely to support marijuana legalization, not pro...

Just Program It!

Image
Hello there! I'm still contemplating on what I did in the past examinations: I passed the STAT1 First Long Exam but I scored somewhere on the modal score in the distribution of all scores of STAT1 students in this exam. I passed the CMSC21 First Long Exam and I was part of the Top 10. (Yey!) It's not that easy to trace program codes! I failed the CMSC57 First Long Exam and I am still trying to cope up to pass with the next examination involving Probability and Recurrence Relations I'm doing it hard to pass the MATH27 First Long Exam this Monday. Practice those derivatives and integrals of transcendental functions! I was just wondering if I did the right thing in drawing vectors in our PHYS3 Lab Exam... I was not quite satisfied with the MST6 Long Exam... I wonder if I pass... We just had our first On-the-Spot Programming exercise in our CMSC21 Lab. I was just getting there to type and compile all those codes to ensure I did it right. These were our exercises in...

My Seventeenth, My Stellar Life: Part 1

Image
What can be put on my 17th Birthday cake? (even if ever we won't have cake this year, let's just make it imaginary...) The usual "Happy Birthday Kenneth"? The usual "Greetings from: (family and friends) "? Blue-coloured icing? Yellow? Green? Maroon? In buttercream? In meringue? Seventeen tiny candles or candles numbered "17"? Candy flowers? Candy sprinkles? Candy-coated chocolate? Sponge cake? Chocolate cake? Layered cake? What more can be put on this birthday cake? Let's review what I have wished for last year : To survive UP life (and the BS Computer Science) in this first year (especially on the first semester). Meet MORE friends, not only in social networks, but with the PERSONAL network. To learn more of myself to improve it and to share what I have to others. I now really crave to teach Chinese to other people. :-) To experience a holistic kind of learning experience on my stay in UP and to keep the legacy that my Alma Mater, Colegio d...
