Another Year Has Passed...

Image
Dearest friends, More Free Graphics at pYzam.com The year of our Lord, Two Thousand and Seven, is beginning to pass by... and another year has been made history. I wanna list down some memorable experiences I had gone through this year, here goes: I had experienced our batch's last JS Promenade at the Filipinas Ballroom, Grand Regal Hotel (sounds familiar, huh?). I experienced an encouraging Retreat at the MIC Cursillo House. I graduated in Colegio de San Ignacio with flying colours. (with all the awards...) My batchmates and I had a great time in our outing together at LaRous Beach Resort in Talomo. I helped as one of the staff of our yearbook, Ignatians 2007 (It released during our Foundation Day.) I had my visit to Mati, Davao Oriental, for the first time during the Grand Reunion of the Porio Clan. (Mati has really nice beaches!) I recieved my award for winning First Place at the Davao Pilipino-Chinese Women's Association's Chinese Academic Contest. My blog had became

Renewal of Contract: The 2008 Internet Resolutions

Image
I, Kenneth Bernejay Hermosilla Porio , shall re-establish this list of resolutions that had benn taken action effective January 1, 2007. This contains resolutions that is connected to my connection to the Internet. I shall still control the time I visit Internet cafés, and, in my case in the University of the Philippines - Mindanao, the Computing Facilities, namely, the Interactive Learning Center and the I.T. Kiosk, so as to save money for other needs. However, if there is any reason to check any Web service (i.e. E-mail, Friendster, Blogger, etc.) for personal or academic purposes, I shall make sure that I can make time to visit the Internet café to access the above mentioned services. If there is a very interesting Web service that I may join, I must decide to join, since I may be lured by the dangers of the Information Gateway, like phishers and spammers and to avoid virus infections. If there will be harmful sites that can affect my overall personality and safety, I shall avoid it

It has been a great Christmas this year. I had completed the Simbang Gabi (what a blessing), I had a visit to the newly-opened "People's Park" here in Davao City (the site formerly known as the PTA Grounds), had a great time during the KASADYA, UP Min's Lantern Parade, and had a visit back in CdSI for their Christmas party (the free ice cream that the school prexy, Mrs. Virginia Lui, was offering was truly rewarding to the studes! (I just remembered those

Among the Christmas Spirit

Image
Dear friends, It's almost Christmas and it's the last week of classes for the year 2007 here in UP Mindanao. It was another time to answer examinations, and this week, all my major subjects had their First Long Examination! Gosh, I've studied very well for this! During the MATH26 examination last Tuesday, I was still too overwhelmed by my colds (It was RAINING HARD the whole day)...and I can't concentrate well. So, I was not very confident enough with my answers on solving the worded problems, especially the problem about solving the distance on a point from a suspension bridge through the parabolic form of hanging cables between its towers... :-s During the CMSC11 examination last Wednesday, I was far too worried on my other classes that will come that day (SSP3, MST2) that I did much cramming for that examinations. However, at least I felt OK during the exams...and I answered early, feeling confident... :-) During the CMSC56 examination last Thursday (yesterday),

Work...definitely

Image
Dear friends, I'm here at the counter of the Interactive Learning Center/Learning Resource Center at UP Mindanao. I'm currently working as a Student Volunteer here. I write in the Logbooks of students who come here to use the services of the Centers. It is actually my first time to work here. Yesterday, I went home to celebrate my mother's birthday. She is now 39 years old and she still is happy about her life. Back home, we had a rather large salu-salo with the family. My cousin visited us too to celebrate. It was actually a wonderful experience since it was a surprise to my mother that I came home to celebrate her big day. Well, life is good here. This ends my short post for now. Cheerio! KENNETH

In the Horoscope

December Forecasts for my Astrological signs: Cancer Your horoscope for December 2007 On the weekend of December 1 you'll be conflicted about getting things done around the house, doing errands, or visiting friends. The latter will probably win out, leaving you stressed. Social events and meetings will take you away from these tasks on December 3 and 4, too. Life will become quieter and you'll be more introspective on December 5 and 6. Concentrate on home issues on December 8, when you can get a lot done without interruption. Leave the errands until the next day. A New Moon in Sagittarius on December 9 will encourage you to be more open-minded and increase your need for exploration of all kinds. Fulfill all promises and meet your responsibilities on December 10 and 11. This is also a good time to express your feelings to a partner or other family members. Take the needs of others seriously on December 12. You'll feel like hiding away on the weekend of December 15. A pleasan

Logick!

Image
Hello, friends! I've been studying a lot lately here in UP Mindanao and these are what I have learned from one of my major subjects, CMSC56: I have learned that "Logic" is a study of reasoning, a study of necessary truth and of systematic methods for clearly expressing & rigorously demonstrating such truths. Logical operations are modifiers, conjunctions (and), disjunctions (or), conditional (if-then, implication), bi-conditional (if and only if). ...so on and so forth... Well, I realised CMSC56 may be a headache in some sort, but it is really intellectually stimulating. Well, I wanna share some of my notes on the application of the rules of inferences in logic: e.g. You are about to leave for school and discovered you don't have your glasses. You have the following true statements: If my glasses are on the kitchen table, then I saw my glasses at breakfast. I was reading newspapers in the living room or I was reading newspapers in the kitchen. If I was reading

SEE-LIP: About Adverlets.com

Hello, there! Welcome to another edition of See-Lip, where I look at some things that may bring up your interest to. I recently put a lot of advertisement widgets here in my blog. Most of these are courtesy of "Asia's Better Blog Advertising Network" ... Adverlets.com Advertlets.com is an Asian blog/weblog advertising network that offers the remarkably sensible proposition of targeted, unintrusive advertising that benefits the online advertising and blogger community, as well as their readers. Bloggers get better advertising that is relevant to their readers, and advertisers make their advertising dollars and their message count. Through a system that allows the collection of real-time demographics, and also allows bloggers to make their own custom polls, we are different from anything out there, at least until our competitors start copying us. And for site visitors: Web 2.0 convenience ensures that visitors don’t have to leave the blog currently viewed to take any po

I Love the Penguin

Dear friends, Yesterday, we had our first sessions in CMSC11. Sir Tecson gave us the guidelines in how to use the computer lab, the priniciples of Computer Science, this and that. What amazes me most here in UP Mindanao is that this institution uses only open-source software , and it only uses the open-source Operating System, Linux . In UP Min, most of our Linux PCs run in the Mandriva Distribution under the K Desktop Environment. After just the first semester, I really fell in love with Linux with its stability, strong architecture, being virus-free and virus-proof (unless you move files to Windows), and undeniably as user-friendly as Windows (if you feel comfortable with Windows software, and its open-source Linux counterparts). I am glad UP Mindanao's Information Technology Office (ITO) has made a decision to shift the main OS from Windows to Linux, to avoid the hassles of commercial licenses of commercial software, like Windows. Microsoft, the company that makes the Window

Ad-Rich...and Still Stellar

Dear friends, I'm here at the UP Mindanao IT Kiosk , a newly-opened computer center in this University. Here, my Internet Fee, included in the Miscellaneous Fees (for us freshies), is applied here, i.e. free access to computer services for the first 20 hours unlike ILC/LRC ( >:-( ). After that, I have to pay Php 15.00 an hour. Thank God for TOFI and the Administrative Order PERR-07-86 by Prexy (that's the colloquial term for "President") Roman. (but I'm still not happy for the increase of tuition. grrr...). I am now a Student Volunteer at the Interactive Learning Center/Learning Resource Center of UP Mindanao. Now, I now have working loads. However, since it's Volunteer Work, I don't really have a pay for this kind of work. I am still waiting for OSA's announcement for Student Assistantships for this semester that I applied. I hope that I'll be hired. I want to have some revenues, so I posted Advertisements here in this blog. It is courtes
