I may not be a student of Holy Cross of Davao College, High School Department (where my brother is studying) but I share their sentiments about the ZTE Broadband Deal Controversy. This is an article from their student publication The Cross , Volume XXVIII, No. 2, SY 2007-2008. The article is in Cebuano, so only those people who could understand this dialect could understand. Nga, gihatagan kini ug luna sa The Cross. (*For security purposes in this blog, the students' commentaries are kept anonymous.) Samok kaayo. Kurakot jud sila, hatagan unta ug hustisya. Dear friends, especially the Iskolars ng Bayan, I am deeply moved by the wonderful, happy, but short life of our ka-Isko , Cris Anthony Garcia Mendez, a 4th Year Public Administration student in the National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG) of the University of the Philippines-Diliman. Quoted from his Friendster account, and a blog: Picking up a line from a Tagalog movie, he would describe himself as “ Parang karinderia na bukas sa lahat ng gustong kumain. ” - Touched by An Angel A friend of Cris shares the story of him described as " Ang lalaking mukhang bao ang buhok " Quoted from " The Warrior Lawyer ": ... A frat (and sorority) culture is deeply woven into the fabric of the political and social life of U.P. There are dozens of recognized fraternities and sororities in Diliman and other campuses within the U.P....

But, when I say TOFI , i.e. Tuition and Other Fee Increases , imposed on the UP System, it is not Luk , I mean "Luck". Yeah, UPCAT takers, passing this test is really Luck, but when you're surprised at looking at the pre-admission documents, you see that the fees force you to say, "It'll be lucky if you have money like that to pay those fees." TOFI isn't rich, sweet, smooth and crunchy. It's just a plain old spoiled 'chocolate bar' too bitter to be eaten. Look, for example, only in UP Mindanao, 500+ freshie studes qualified for admission, 300+ confirmed, but 203 studes enrolled. Maybe that TOFI is such a unLUcKy thing. Malas! I'm one of the 203 LUcKy ones who can afford those fees and experience UP life. :-| Poor unLUcKy people wh...
