Losing the Chance

In today's current economic situation, many of this year's UPCAT passers would shun off the opportunity to study in the National University , the University of the Philippines . With the tuition fees that skyrocketed since 2007, it has been a struggle for the poor but deserving students to enter the University. With the continuing reduction of the education budget by the past and present government, the University's population has slowly becoming from those who are well-to-do and deserving. GMA News TV's State of The Nation files a report about a UPCAT passer who desired to enter UP Diliman, but unable to enter due to insufficient funds. <p><p>This page requires a higher version browser</p></p> For the latest Philippine news stories and videos, visit GMANews.TV This is a wake-up call to all University students to see the reality that many po...

REGISTERED: The New Sophomore

Image
Dear friends, Another ENDURING process of enrollment has been done. I'm officially REGISTERED as a Sophomore of the University of the Philippines Mindanao . Alright, I had many worries carried with me during the enrollment period. But all of them were just blown by the wind, because I had a somewhat smoother process on my part. (pardon the pun) OK. For the last 4 days, I endured another long process, that is, the signing of clearances, enlisting of subjects, and filling up and signing of forms. Here's what I mean: DAY ONE: CLEAR. NO HINDRANCE . (06-02-08) As I arrived in UP Min, I got my clearance form and went on to the clearance centers: ILC/LRC (ILC Building): As I submitted the wee, little charge slip and gave it to Kuya Jeffrey of ILC. When he was done on assessing, he gave to Ate Diocy of LRC. It was so long and tedious because they did it manually. All I saw on the charge slip was a total of Php 900.25 Not that bad; my SV duties in ILC/LRC really paid off. (My...

The Final Countdown

♪ IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN! ♪ Dear friends... It's the last 10 days of May and it's nearing school again. Updates on my life: I'm been at home most of the summer time and I got the hang of it - switching between CNN and Disney Channel and ABS-CBN is quite fun. Watching CNN makes me much "in-the-know". (Think the natural disasters in Myanmar and Sichuan, China .) Watching Disney Channel shows makes my inner child happy. Watching PBBTE+ (PBB Teen Edition Plus) on ABS-CBN is just as exciting as its previous editions. I'm still deciding on my actions regarding my registration process in UP Mindanao. As of now, the STFAP Website has to release its Second Batch of Bracket Results by the fourth week of May (that's next week, at this time of posting). I will still be thankful if I'm still Bracket C, but Bracket D would be better. If my bracket is not yet released, I may resort to Student Loan (SL) because my student fees may count up to PhP 13,000. I s...

What A Day...

Dear friends: I have achieved these for past 3 days: Submitted my COMPLETE STFAP Application Form with attached documents. (Waaah!) After all those intricate documents I have to file for this Socialized Tuition and Financial Assistance Program...it's all done. Did Mama's banking errands. You know what I mean... :-/ Deposited an amount of money in my Savings Account in one of the multi-purpose cooperatives my Mama is in. By 18 (that's two years from now), I may be a member of the coop if I meet the minimum quota in my savings account... (I hope so.) Visited Colegio de San Ignacio and made a quick conversation with Teacher Divine and Teacher Kenneth, and talked about how's it going in CDSI and with my batchmates. The Chinese teachers Siu Eng Siensi and Theng-Theng Siensi were out for this week to attend some businesses, but they will be back in a few weeks' time to do Summer Enrichment classes. The Yearbook Staff was there too to do their paperworks for this year...

Dear friends, Another bunch of updates here at A Stellar Life. OK, now here's an update from the UPCAT results. I have found another UPCAT passer from Colegio de San Ignacio. He holds student number 2008-57483, and qualified for the BS Architecture program of the Mindanao campus. He is... Leo Angelo O. Gaerlan ! Again, in my last post, the first passer I found was Junah Catmin C. Mindanao (2008-57484). Alright, here now are the list of present and hopefully, future students of UP Mindanao from Colegio de San Ignacio per Batch: Batch 2005: Boji Bote (BA Communication Arts) Paeng Pulgar (BS Architecture, shifted to BA Communication Arts) Batch 2006: Hazel Gamas (BA Communication Arts) Blanche Agunod (BS Architecture) Hans Toreno (BS Food Technology) Batch 2007: Roneo Vermont (BS Applied Mathematics, shifted to BA Communication Arts) Edmund Gemelo, Jr. (BS Applied Mathematics) Jan Inez Raya (BA Communication Arts) Richard Von Lao (BS Agribusiness Economics) John Maverick Moradilla (...

Dear friends, I'm here at the UP Mindanao IT Kiosk , a newly-opened computer center in this University. Here, my Internet Fee, included in the Miscellaneous Fees (for us freshies), is applied here, i.e. free access to computer services for the first 20 hours unlike ILC/LRC ( >:-( ). After that, I have to pay Php 15.00 an hour. Thank God for TOFI and the Administrative Order PERR-07-86 by Prexy (that's the colloquial term for "President") Roman. (but I'm still not happy for the increase of tuition. grrr...). I am now a Student Volunteer at the Interactive Learning Center/Learning Resource Center of UP Mindanao. Now, I now have working loads. However, since it's Volunteer Work, I don't really have a pay for this kind of work. I am still waiting for OSA's announcement for Student Assistantships for this semester that I applied. I hope that I'll be hired. I want to have some revenues, so I posted Advertisements here in this blog. It is courtes...

REGISTERED...version 1.2

Dearie friends, I finally endured another process of enrolment in the University of the Philippines Mindanao for the Second Semester of Academic Year 2007-2008, and again... REGISTERED . Well, first things first. I went on to UP Min to enrol as a BS CompSci student for the Second Semester. My, my, what a looooooong process I should undertake to be REGISTERED in UP Min. Before everything, in my last post, "A Chance to Live My Life", I was still contemplating on my decision to be in UP Min. There, on the whole span of the semestral break, I did many thoughts on what I should to to continue to be an Isko . There, me and my parents agreed upon some things with each other so I can still continue in UP Min: Never WASTE time in the Interactive Learning Center/Learning Resource Center (ILC/LRC) computer facilities again. I wasted a lot of time and energy being obsessed being Online everyday in the previous semester. When I requested how much my debts in ILC/LRC were, it reached ...
