SEE-LIP: Clear Anti-Dandruff Shampoo

Welcome to another edition of See-Lip.

Unilever Philippines has launched its new shampoo brand named Clear. According to a website:

Clear is an anti-dandruff shampoo that has a patented Zinc Vitanol complex that stops and prevents dandruff from recurring. It is the only anti-dandruff shampoo endorsed by the International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology (IACD). It comes in these variants.

Unisex Range
1. Complete Soft Care- Nourishes scalp and gives silky soft hair
2. Hairfall Defense- Strengthens to reduce breakage
3. Ice Cool- Refreshes With Cooling Sensation
4. Clean and Itch-Control- Cleans Deeply and removes Itch

Clear for Men

1. Hairfall Decrease- Strengthens hair to reduce breakage
2. Activsport- Gives a long lasting refreshing feeling
3. Styl-Express- 3 in 1 express clear, care and manageability

Clear for Men is made especially for men because "men tend to have more flaky, more oily scalps with more hairfall due to breakage."

I am currently using Clear for Men Activsport. It really proves that it gives a long-lasting refreshing feeling because it claims that the "Active Oil-Control" can help make the scalp and hair feel cleaner, longer and the Cooling Menthol will give you that fresh cool feeling. (But somehow, my scalp still tends to feel weird - it still feels itchy and dry, unlike when I use Vaseline or the rival Head & Shoulders.)

As I scour through the ingredient list, I see it contains the infamous Zinc Pyrithione, Menthol, Tocopheryl acetate (Vitamin E) and Helianthus annus (sunflower) extract. I think the patented name "Zinc Vitanol" comes from the ZPT ("Zinc") and Vitamin E+ Sunflower extract ("Vitanol"). Reminds me of "Vitanol" in Sunsilk's old anti-dandruff variant Dandruff Soft Care, with still has Vitamin E and Sunflower Extract.

The differences between the Unisex Range and the Men Range are the fragrances; the Unisex range has that "fruity, floral" scent, Men range has that "spicy, bold, musk" scent - really for men. Also, the Men range has quite stronger ZPT quanitity than the Unisex range, and makes the scalp feels like you had applied oil-removing facial wash to it (the scalp tends not to excrete oil too much.) The Unisex range also has Conditioner variants, the Men range does not. (Guys, are all conditioners related to Cream Silk? Yeah, right!)

All I can conclude is that I hope Clear will be a commerical success.
